Since it worked in Gujarat, after he became the Prime Minister, he promoted this approach across the whole country. However, the ones benefiting the most are his old buddies, such as Adani and a few others. As this report pointed out, India is a country dependent on internal consumption. No matter how luxurious the lives of the wealthy few, it will never be enough to drive the economy. The poor majority have no money to spend, and the situation will only get worse since there are no jobs.

The few rich individuals cannot spend enough to drive the country's economic consumption. Since India's growth largely depends on internal consumption, this lack of broad-based consumption will eventually slow the country's growth, making a 7-8% growth rate unsustainable.
