Mao, for whole of his life, was to try to make China industrialized, however, China was not like British, could colonize a country like India to get total $45 trillion, industrialization needed money, China was poor, so the only way Mao had, was to use agriculture products to accumulation capital, that was the reason China's farmers were working really hard to sell grains fruits, pork....etc etc , so Chinese government could get some money for burying machines for China's industrialization, by middle of 1970s, just before Mao's death, China had set up basic industrialization systems in China, (India does not have it until today), so that was the reason Deng Xiaoping could opening up, so foreign companies could set up factories easily in China since China had already large number of educated, experienced work force and basic systems to provide needed raw materials and know how, roads, hospitals, electricity, steel ., chemicals, cements....Deng's success was built on the foundation set up by Mao.

for all 5000 yrs history of China, Mao is the greatest Chinese national hero in all Chinese history. Mao founded new China completely changed China's history, greatly affected world, opened up a path for China to go into a brightly shining future, this trend makes whole west lead by US shriving and worrying but China is not stoppable. started at the same time 75 years ago, compare to India? ooops, that will be just waste time .............ha :)

Long Live our great leader our Chinese national hero , he will always live in our hearts, new China founded by him is now de facto super power of the world, India can only cry, but cannot do anything, compare to China, although founded at the same time, now China GDP is 6 times of India's and is light year ahead of India in all areas, we thank Mao for this bright path for China, compare to India in a path into no future and no hope.

@navinasimoes shallow, without the solid foundation set up by Mao, Deng had nowhere to start the reform, tell me, why west did not go to India ? since you do not have foundation as in China, that the achievement by Mao.

@navinasimoes if reform is so important tell me then why India's reform in 1990 cannot achieve what China achieved?? the reason is, China's reform is based on China's foundation, which is totally different from India's, China's success in reformed can only be achieved on China's foundation, with this foundation, China can make a high rise to the future without limit, India, on the other hand, can only do reform to build a slum, impossible to go higher. ,
