South Tibet, very easy to understand, is only the south slop of Himalaya, historically control by Tibet. Not in any way by India, British draw McMahon line for British Raj, as a proposal to China for negotiation in Silam in 1913-1914, no Chinese government signed the treaty, it has nothing to do with Indian government anyway, only in Feb 1952, India sent army to occupy Tawang and push out local Tibetan officials, PLA, due to the civil war, only got into Lhasa in October 1952, Lhasa is still over 600 km to Tawang at the time no road to there, in 1962, PLA occupied Tawang, just too difficult to defend there since needed to send supplies over Himalaya, but now it is not a problem for PLA any more, we will take back whole South Tibet soon.
