Comments by "Jim Dent" (@jimdent351) on "Barrie residents mourning 6 young adults killed in single-vehicle crash on closed road" video.
Road closed means that driving conditions could be dangerous, and the moment the driver drove past the sign that insurance became null and void. The driver was breaking the law at this point.

A closed road means "DO NOT ENTER". They were breaking the law. They had no insurance once they passed the closed sign. Stop making excuses for them.

Why? They wouldn't have all fit in the car. That means separate vehicles. I don't believe them.

@Creeksideviews What if the driver was colour blind? What would your argument be then. You cannot anticipate every scenario known to man. The driver made a mistake, and they paid the ultimate price for that mistake.

Look at these young women pretending they could have made a difference. The taller of the 2 looks rather cold or excited at 1:49. Yummy!

Speed kills.

The road was clearly marked "CLOSED" they were breaking the law by driving down it. Not only were they subject to monetary fines, but they were driving without insurance because they were knowingly driving on a closed road. Ignorance is not an excuse of the law.

A fence would not have stopped a car. A closed road sign, and pylons/caution tape around the hole should have been enough. A pool is a permanent structure. A temporary hole in the road is not.

@MrUranium238 I'm certain they were well within their legal obligations.

@vmxg8052 I think the outer fence was erected after the fact. It doesn't look damaged to me. Just put up haphazardly, after the fact. The inner fence, if that's what you want to to call it, has clearly been damaged by the collision. 0:09 IMO, there were plenty of markings to stay off the road. This is nothing more than a tragic accident that occurred due to a series of stupid decisions made by the driver.
1
@vmxg8052 The drone footage in this video, to me anyway, looks to show the outer fence intact where the inner one is damaged. It's not my intent to start something with you so please don't let that happen. My last comment to you just to reinforce to the other person that safety measures were taken. This other person is not going to be happy in any scenario. There could be 10 fences, 2 miles of caution tape, 50 pylons, and a concrete wall before that hole. Some people just need to find fault where fault doesn't occur. In the scenario just mentioned, they would criticize that kids will be kids and the contractor should have anticipated the stupidity and put crash pads in place too, and put precautions in place to keep them from driving into that.
1
@Creeksideviews You mention that they could just put a big concrete block in the road, and it's true they could. Then someone is going to drive into that, and someone will come along and argue it wasn't enough. There would have been an alternate route to the casino. The girls being interviewed suggest that there was.
1
@Sean-410 Nope. There's always that person who would still find a way to crash into it, and someone like yourself would say the flashing light wasn't enough because of X,Y&Z. The "ROAD CLOSED" signage was enough, and the fence was the icing on the cake. They purposely ignored the law. Why do you defend that?
1
@Creeksideviews Clearly, you can see the inner fence was crashed through. The outer fence was, in assuming, put there afterward because the original one was damaged.
1
@Sean-410 The news says the road was closed. The road CANNOT be considered closed without proper signage. When we study for our driver's licence we are taught that driving on a closed road can nullify our insurance. Nullified insurance = breaking the law! Like I said. there will always be some clown complaining things weren't enough. Prove it, prove it, and prove it some more. Never happy!

Probably not as deep as they would have you believe.

@marxistliberalhater4459 Me too. LOL

@marxistliberalhater4459 Am I missing something? I can't see a comment from the person you are responding to.
