Why is it so hard for people to disagree and enjoy a TED talk at the same time? I think her work is important and will shape the way the town will be remembered. I didn't agree with everything she said but she made some good points and I think listening to her perspective was interesting regardless.

theslimeylimey What you're missing is that this talk isn't solely about racial issues but about the industrialist bias of our historical narrative and the negligence of the impact their exploitation has on the local environment and health of the working class. The idea that only the activities of a few influential people of a town makes it to the historical record and the rest are at large neglected and forgotten, it scares me, and I think it is incredibly important to keep this in mind when reflecting on our past.

theslimeylimey So what I'm saying is she made some good points and her work is clearly valuable. You shouldn't allow yourself to be distracted from that because she told the story from her personal and cultural perspective. Then you would be actually missing something, as you sarcastically suggested in your first comment.
