What's most amusing about it all is how they tried to create some semblance of accuracy by "aiming" them, but the way these things jumped about, that's completely pointless.

@techkingdata9338 A mortar can actually be frighteningly accurate if you have a crew that knows how to operate it, an FO who knows how to call shots and well produced shells that have been stored perfectly. I wouldn't count on Russia having any of these.

Must've been. Does Russia not at least give its mortar crews some basic mortar handling training before sending them out with these things. I mean, we're not talking about the kids toy version here, 60mm or the like, these things could really hurt these guys the way they use them. It's a bit of a miracle that nothing serious happened here.

@classifiedchannel2378 Well, technically, if you had some FO in position, you would know that. In our time and age, that FO role is more often than not taken by a drone, but yes, you can actually know whether your mortars hit something or whether you're just lobbing ordnance into the sky with the good old Tom Lehrer quip "once the rockets (or in this case grenades) go up, who cares were they come down" like these guys.
