@PJRayment Flat earthers are almost always biblical creationists. According to them, the bible says the earth is flat. Of course, the bible also says PI = 3, so it's probably not a great source for anything science. You'll find many things are calculated rather than measured. That doesn't make them less accurate. What are these assumptions you speak of?

@PJRayment That's one person. Of all the flerfers I've banged heads with and there's been a few, almost all we're God botherers. Of course they're wrong, they're flat earthers. It describes a circle with a diameter of 10 units and a circumference of 30 units. PI is defined as the ratio of these 2 measurement. So yes, it says PI = 3. Yes, PI is irrational, this impossible to define precisely, but the Bible gives the most inaccurate definition of PI I've ever seen. Given that it's supposed to be the work of an infallible being, is have expected a little better than that.

@PJRayment Carbon dating is only one form of dating. We can tell the earth is more than 7,000 years old simply by looking at core samples, all maidenhead no assumptions. Then there's the fact that there are millions of stars and galaxies which are much further than 7000 light years away. If God created them all less than 7000 years ago, we wouldn't be able to see them. The light wouldn't have made it to us yet. The visible universe is over 13 billion light years, so the universe is more that 13 billion years old. That's a lot more that 7000 years. To be quite honest, I think being a young earth creationist requires just as much ignorance as being a flat earther.
