Healthcare lobbyists have been trying to corrupt Bernie for 50 years & he still has the position for phasing out all health insurance & managed to create a mass movement against them. Explain why that would suddenly change after 50 years?

@JuniFFXIVChannel Why? Because he dropped out without getting concessions? He just explained the major concession he got was he would become the chairman on the committee of healthcare so he would be in a powerful position to push Medicare down to cover more people every year. If you don't believe the Dems will follow through with that concession then why would you believe they would've followed through with any other concessions if promised. I never understand the logic some people use here.

This was exactly my first thought as well. Some people are assuming the Dems just handed this to him yesterday, but Dems don't just freely give anything to progressives without bargaining. Getting this in April makes sense.

It's not guaranteed the Dems will give us anything no matter what it is or what compromises they promise, even if Bernie had extorted the same concessions he got from Hillary in 2016. Biden has a $15 minimum wage on his platform & raising taxes on the rich, but will he do that? We lost the primary & this is the best stuff we can hope for. Next time we should win, so we don't have to guess this stuff & take Dems on the word for anything.

It's been half a year since the primary & so many people are still acting like suicidal emo kids who missed their last 10 doses of Zoloft. This is the best chance we got & lowering the Medicare age to 55 is literally what Medicare for All does in it's first year enacted.

The system is literally rigged against 3rd parties. It doesn't matter if Bernie's in it or not. The People's Party specifically doesn't even have ballot access. If you're going to suggest such a thing, you should probably follow up on how that's even going to lead to systemic change & not just another Green Party with no politicians in federal government after decades of grueling work.

If you just taxed the top 5% earners a little bit, it wouldn't change their standard of living at all but it would entirely be enough to pay for things like tuition free college, childcare, paid vacation by law, & Universal Healthcare would actually save money, so yes you can do a lot of shit & help a lot of people without even inconveniencing the ultra wealthy a tiny bit.

Biden promised to lower it to 60, Bernie as chairman of healthcare committee wants it to 55, not a big difference to compromise for a Biden administration. That's literally what Medicare for All does in year 1. We have a chance to literally start doing Medicare for All, & you're still pushing the idea that that's no better than Trump? Wtf?

@washingtonnavas2727 Wtf do you think Medicare for All does? Over 4 years it lowers the age to 55, 45, 35, & then everyone else under 35. Just because Biden wouldn't approve a bill that completes it for all 4 years consecutively, doesn't mean doing the 1st year & lowering Medicare to 55 wouldn't save countless lives. They're literally already promising to lower so it's beyond clear they're not against expanding Medicare to more people aka the mechanism of Medicare for All. You're so hung up on defeatism that you don't even give a damn about helping people anymore. Explain how ELSE do we get to lowering the age of Medicare? Explain a better way, because all you're doing now is bitching & moaning & not offering anything productive.

Lowering the age of Medicare is literally a part of Medicare for All. If you lower it to 55, that's what Medicare for All does in year 1, it doesn't just suddenly cover everyone. We have a real chance to start doing Medicare for All. This is the group of people who were urging "People are dying, this is urgent", so why tf are half the people here acting like we should do fucking nothing & saying we should just abandon Bernie in his fight? I'm disgusted by people here saying this shit, I thought politics was supposed to be about getting systemic change, but some of the people here care more about their egos & their contempt for the Dem party than actually getting the change to help people. I used to think progressive politics was the one shining light in a sea of corruption & greed, but now it's just become a cesspit for pessimistic self-wallowing, pity, & hyperbolic condemnation of the only people trying to help people in government. He likely got this in April in exchange for the endorsement. What makes you think Dems just randomly handed this to him now? Dems don't freely give progressives anything without bargaining for it. Bernie likely didn't reveal this until just now.
