AMD, Yes, in the old days with my old jalopies, most mechanics skipped the 'Why?', just threw some parts at them and handed over the bill. I learned the hard way. With my nice, new 17 year old 'Toyota', I change my power steering fluid every 5 years at the same time the coolant is changed. Getting back to the LS, no car is perfect not even a Lexus. We really, really appreciate the time you take to educate us about the pros and cons of each model. 😁

@kevinbarry71 Every 5 years I have the coolant, power steering fluid, manual transmission lubricant, serpentine belt and pcv valve changed. They are all easily accessible on my simple 1.8 engine. Doing it all at the same time makes it easy to remember and saves money as I get a sort of 'package price'. The brake fluid is done every 2-3 years.

There was a time when the Oil Trust was being broken up but in modern times they have let it reassemble itself.

I do power steering fluid, coolant, drive belt, pcv and manual transmission lubricant every five years. It is easy to remember and cheaper when they are all done together.
