@jalemairliha I have an example that may be pertinent. Years ago, I was a single mother of 2 wonderful girls. I was very committed to, and active in the Nuclear Freeze Campaign, as were many of my friends. Very near us was Mare Island Naval Shipyard, a huge facility for the repair of nuclear submarines. It had 5 drydocks. I heard that apprenticeships were being offered; a paid 4 year apprenticeship, then a full time job with steady raises. I didn't hesitate! Got the job and worked there for 8 years, until they closed it. Did that betray my convictions against nuclear war? Of course not. My first responsibility was to provide for my daughters. And do you know something? Eventually I found that about the same number of workers there also disagreed with having these weapons. Too bad they didn't join the campaign.

@jamesbarlow6423 Who are you referring to? Since you didn't address your comment to anyone, there's no way to know quite what you mean. Have you ever wondered why some comments are addressed to a particular person on this platform? If you do, you might then ask yourself how to do that. Or maybe you're just talking to yourself?

@jamesbarlow6423 Okay, I actually checked, and I admit I was pedantic. At least I didn't tell anyone "Now, make your bed." As to being rude or whatever else you called me, all the blame is mine. My parents were saintly, loving, generous and fun. "Mama tried" and so did Dad. Extra points if you name the singer and writer of the song.

@elipearson8194 I believe it's possible, yes, to "explain the world" to ourselves, without making up an ideology. Haven't you ever seen something you can't conclusively explain? Let it be. As for 'ideology', l don't see that as a given at all. You seem so confused; you seem to abhor the very idea, but you're sure it's inevitable.
