  2. Well, since it's an OEM Toyota filter it comes in a box that has directions and illustrations right on the box, but yes, most guys will likely never look at those.

  8. Personally I would only use the Fram Ultra Synthetic oil filter. Their cheaper filters are questionable. They may be okay but they are concerned by so many youtubers... Why take a chance?

  12. End caps don't filter the oil. The OEM filters don't have end caps. Paying more for a filter with end caps is overkill.

  13. He didn't say that. He just said to be careful to do it correctly and that if you don't want to drain the filter then you don't need to. In that case there is no reason to change the o-ring that's under the drainbolt.

  30. You wouldn't have those problems if the torque specs were followed... Oil filter cap = 18 ft. Lbs. Drainbolt on oil filter cap = 10 ft.lbs.

  31. The more you drive the more miles you can get away with between changes. It's the frequent short trips that cause engine wear and not the extended highway use.

  32. The very best oil filter cap wrench I recommend is the Motivx MX2320 it was redesigned last year. The old design had the slots on it that you mentioned but the new one does not. I have both. The new one will not risk cracking the tabs on the filter housing instead of only contacting four points on the plastic housing it contacts each of the fourteen flutes which is better. It's precision made at 64.3 mm. Available on Amazon or direct from Motivx Tools.

  33. Actually, the first oil filters were cartridge style filters then the spin-on filters came later then many manufactures reverted to cartridge filters. Now newer Toyotas are going back to spin-ons.

  43. The oil filter cap IS part of the housing. Are you asking about the drainbolt on the oil filter cap?
