In any country you own a car and could drive it only where and when state tells you. For example, you are not allowed to drive on sidewalks, in wrong direction, on someone's property and generally outside public roads with few exceptions. As for when, many countries have limited licenses for new drivers (no driving at night) , plus remember recent epidemics and your driving(and walking :D) rights at those times ;)

@colonel__klink7548 Well, there was never free market and it never would be one, because market is a social construct. Market requires laws about property (which are not natural) , and laws about exchanging property (which are also not natural) .

@noahL3654 Lobbying is simply another name for rent seeking, euphemism if you like.

There is no country in the world where property is absolute, and it never were. Simply saying, property is social agreement that certain individual has rights over certain object. If that individual breaks laws or rules of said society, it is quite common that in turn his rights over certain objects would be revoked.

@cliffgaither Wars have been fought for lands, i.e. resources but that does not mean ownership over such resources is absolute. US constitution is not an universal document, and even in US eminent domain applies, i.e. ultimately state could take someone's land if necessary.

Not really. In fact, in every country and system government (i.e. those who really rule) reward their own. In US for example, those close to ruling circles get the jobs and investments from public money. It is called lobbying :D

@noahL3654 Not necessarily. If you build a tool (lever, hammer ... ) it will work in any society, or even without society. Laws regulating market exist only in society, and depend on that society. Thus, there is never free market, it is always bound by society which created said market.
1
@noahL3654 No, they are not :D You simply curry the favor with ruling class, in order to make profit or other benefit for yourself.

@noahL3654 Indexes are made by those who want to portray themselves as "free society" compared to "evil enemy". In reality you have laws regulating what is your property, what can you do with your property, and how you can exchange your property for someone else property. There is no society where you could freely exchange anything for anything (i.e. there are always some things that are illegal to trade) . In the situation when societal laws break down, you would theoretically have free market but there is one tiny detail :D - anyone stronger could take away your property.

@noahL3654 Every society is mixed economy simply means that there was no free market anywhere in anytime :D
1
@noahL3654 What you fail to understand is the simple fact that free market is a chimera. Something idealized, like perfect circle, that cannot exist in our reality. Yes, there is possibility that certain economy is closer to this fiction than some other economy, but free market on its own is impossible - because of the reasons I already told you.

@hagoryopi2101 You have both Peter and Paul claiming ownership over same land. Without society, this would usually end up in blows. Society could award ownership to Peter and call it a law, but that does not have anything to do with "natural autonomy" or any similar concept. Peter's ownership of the land is pure social construct. Society could easily take away Peter's land and grant it to Paul (happened many times trough history) . Therefore, concept of ownership, and therefore of markets, is dependant on society - there is nothing free about it.

@@LT-jc4rg That is because such calls are censored 😁😆

@@LT-jc4rg Difference between good and evil is very relative. Just look at various conflicts in the world right now, with both sides in them having supporters. Markets do exist, there is no doubt about that. But "free market" is not even a social construct. It is chimera that is impossible to achieve.
