Well, not really. Romanians were mixed bag. Depending on the unit, some troops were simply demoralized due to poor conditions on Eastern Front, no clear goal and overall attitude of Romanian officers towards troops. Some units fought relatively well, especially those that did not face overwhelming tank attacks.

Axis in genera lacked anti-tank guns. War on the Eastern Front could not be won by defending alone. Side that could keep up the initiative would eventually win.

Some divisions broke down and fled after few hours, some fought for couple of days. Overall, realistically, Romanians were lacking many things : weapons, trained officers and NCOs, and wiliness to fight.

@leme5639 Of course I did watch the video, also read a lot of articles about this operation. God willing, TIK will continue making videos about Uranus and you will see how long will certain Romanian divisions last.

@theMOCmaster Not on a first day, but after that they could - just as Romanian rout was increasing.

@tiziogg6350 This was in 1941, but now Romanian troops were deep into Russia in territory that was never theirs and never had anything to do with them. Romanian troops realized this was not any kind of liberation, they were just pawns in a great scheme of things. Ultimately they realized that alliance with Germany was a big mistake (thus defection in 1944). In 1942 though, Romanians only wanted to flee to perceived safety westwards. Overall, lack of weapons and generally poor officer corps contributed to defeat, but also must be noted that Romanians simply did not have much will to fight.

@tiziogg6350 From a military standpoint, what you said is true, but troops morale is also an issue. Simply, by the autumn of 1942 average Romanian solider understood that USSR would not be defeated. He was fighting far from home in a foreign, unhospitable land. many of his comrades have died not only from enemy fire, but also from frost and disease. Officers treated him poorly and Germans even worse. And then came devastating Soviet attack, enormous artillery preparation and masses of tanks & infantry. As for 1944, situation was of course even worse. King did what he had to do to avoid tying whole country to German suicide pact . Coup of course would not be successful if Romanian army was not already sick of Germans. The fact that they switched sides so abruptly shows that even before that they did not like Germans, to say the least.

@tiziogg6350 It is doubtful there would be any guerilla warfare, even if it did losses among civilian population would be enormous (Soviets were usually brutal in putting down such uprisings). Overall, king did save Romania as without that it would end up like Hungary (enormous sieges, bloodshedding and inevitable loss).Romanian resistance would at best buy Germans few more months of the war, if even that. On the other hand, Romania would be dealt much harsher by victorious powers.

There were no excess equipment that would be useful for Romanians. Basically, what Romanians got (tanks, AT guns, artillery ...) was taken from German stock, and some German unit suffered because of it. Axis simply did not have excess industrial capacity .
