  1.  @rafalpalma  Animals inside same herd may compete against each other, but band together against external enemy (predator for example) . This is not muttally exclusive and in fact happens often in the nature.

  3. @affenhirn5541 TIK's point is utter nonsense. Even if we disregard human societies, among animals often happens that individua is sacrificed for the collective : from sick African buffalo to ants and bees. If members of a certain race share similar genetic code, it will be in the interest of individua sacrificing itself to perpetuate eternal genetic code of his race.

  6.  @pseudohacker  Point is that sacrifice does exist, and not only among humans, as a survival strategy. From the point of an individual, being alive is a time limited state (i.e. everyone dies in the end) . But species or a race could be eternal (or at least much more long-lived) . Thus, similar genes might be worth preserving even at the expense of own life.

  7.  @DonutGuard  How do you know that you have senses, and that there is empirical world at all ? 😁 Obviously, materialism is based on a belief there is an outside world. While idealism at least has Cogito, ergo sum as an undisputed fact.

  8.  @nemamiah7832  You could talk whatever you want about light wavelengths, blind person could understand that on rational level, but could not experience color. In the same manner, those who lack "spiritual sense" could not experience immaterial world.
