Questioning, yes, it's absolutely necessary, but often I found that with growing up, undarstanding the world more and adding experience to critical thinking, you go back to those same "non-questionable" conservative beliefs and you undarstand why they were put there in the first place. Following something blindly is dumb, but teenagers and kids are dumb while they think they are the smartest, and following something they may not fully undarstand yet prevents them from making dumb mistakes that can have ireparable consequences, especially for girls...
