I read Harry Potter as a kid and then got into Arthurian Legends later (I'm in the States and they don't delve into that much) and I found it wild how little the Arthurian connection are mentioned by her fans. I mean, Harry has an invisibility cloak that is almost Arthur's mantle to a tee. As to the roman connections, McGonagall first name in Minerva which is the roman version of Athena. And Albus is a roman word that means something like 'bright white' or something if I remember right. And Sirius is the name of the brightest star, which is in the Canis Major constellation (or great dog).

A big part if his philosophical works revolve around challenging the 'divine right to rule' claimed by kings. He didn't like that were different laws for people based on their social class. He details the demonic sophistry that bends Equality to Equal in Every Way. Vonnegut also did it pretty well in Harrison Bergeron. Not quite lovecraftian, but they're heavy on the Norse stuff. it's a bit goofy but complements it well, in my opinion. But it might just be that many sports are sort of military in nature and Rowling needed a sport. I actual found a quote (just glancing over Wikipedia) where she says "I had been pondering the things that hold a society together, cause it to congregate and signify its particular character and knew I needed a sport."

They would just deny outright facts, and then tell me that I should believe he was a 'victim' because it's right to do so. Literally just, "believe the lie or you're bad". I ran screaming from that party and did not hold my tounge any longer when it came to calling out each and every lie. The utter crap these people have tried to tell me would make your brain melt, and the complete and utter shamelessness (as well as the creepy grins they get when you catch them in an outright lie but they keep pushing it, thinking they can get away with it so long as they don't admit it openly) is just so bizarre. I have lost so much respect for so many people.
