I congratulate you, the questioner, for God has made you curious about Islam.
Islam is a complete way of life for human. Islam is the only religion
for human acceptable to God. God sent many messengers to preach and to
teach Islam. Adam, Noah, Jacob, Moses, Joseph, David, Solomon, Abraham,
Ismael, Issac, Jesus, Mohammad (peace be upon them) were messengers of
God.
BASIC BELIEFS:
1. God is one and there is no other God except God. God has no equal, no helper, no son, no relatives.
2. It is the duty of human to obey God's orders.
3. God sent many messengers from Adam to Muhammad (peace be upon them) to convey God's orders to human and to teach them.
4. God will judge human in the afterlife and will reward or punish.
5. God created Angels.
6. God revealed books of Islam to his messengers.
BASIC PRACTICES:
Human is to lead their entire life as per God's orders. So, it is a vast
subject which is not possible to narrate here in details. There are
orders to obey in every sphere of human life. I am listing some of
those....
1. In the field of food, human should not eat:
a. Pork
b. Animals or birds which are dead or killed without in the name of God.
c. Liquid flowing blood
d. Any addicting drug which can harm normal function of human brain.
Other than these four items, human is allowed to eat anything good, eatable and not harmful.
2. In the field of personal behavior:
a. should not lie
b. should not steal and/or cheat
c. should not be rude or harsh
d. should not be miserly
e. should not expend too much without necessity.
f. perform hajj at least once in the lifetime if posses sufficient wealth
3. In the field of family life:
a. must be caring for spouse and children.
b. must not have sexual relations without contract (contract for having sexual life is called marriage).
c. Homosexuality and lesbianism is prohibited.
d. must not neglect and disobey the parents.
4. In business life:
a. must not cheat in any way.
5. In social life:
a. help neighbors
b. help poors
5. In national life:
a. must obey the leaders
b. Becoming a leader without being elected or selected by the people is prohibited.
c. take decisions on discussions.
d. Pay zakat (wealth tax).
As training, is to perform Siam(fasting, Ramadan) and Salah(five times daily).
However there are more orders and prohibitions for practicing in human
life. Tabulating all those here, is not possible. If you are really
interested, can find those from the Qur’an. Rules given for practice in
Islam are to make the society civilized, cultured and peaceful. Not for
inconvenience. Orders given (in Islam) are not for a certain race or
certain religion. It is for entire mankind.
