  2. I remember the ray-sist 1970s and 80s. Burgeoning Political Correctness and positive discrimination. A period when walking along any side street of certain urban areas could trigger a volley of foreign language insults and hand gestures of a violent or graphic nature from loitering mobs of non-native males. More than a few persistent nuisances who, in broken English, informed young women like myself that they wanted to be our boyfriends… Report any of this to the police and get questioned, if not arrested. Working class?Put up and shut up. How far we’ve come since then.
