Comments by "Clogs" (@clogs4956) on "When Christmas carols sung in English churches need to be sensitive to diverse communities…" video.
At least thirty years ago, I was involved in a situation where a third party was offended by a slightly naughty joke they’d overheard. In fact, it turned out that the third party was offended that the second party was not offended by the first party. This was the height of Old Political Correctness, but the third party got short shrift and, subsequently, resigned in a huff. I’m looking forward to the day we can once again advise other mean little bullying tattletales to go forth at their leisure.

The term “carol” has become synonymous with Christmas hymns but it actually means, simply, “song”, particularly a happy song, possibly a round, and it might be something people may dance to.

I’ve been happily singing “Veni, Veni, Emmanuel” as I’ve walked around my very multicultural home city. Also “Adeste, Fidelis”, and “Personet Hodie”, with a quick bit of “Ill est Nee, Le Devine Enfant” and “Stille Nacht”. No one has told me how offended they are. Can’t imagine why… Happy Cristes Maesse!

@DesHewitt-mj8lb dunno about that. I’m terribly fond of Blake’s Preface to Milton and “I Vow to Thee my Country”.

No, I’d not say the Church has been corrupted by Wokeness. Rather, the Church is too kindly, too willing to accommodate and embrace those who are different in one way or another or have different points of view. The Church is, you see, much more tolerant than it used to be.

@TPT6148 because it was written after 1926? Or because Cat Stevens put it out as a record?
