I still scratch my head over this 'diversity' casting thing. Didn't it used to be called 'tokenism'.

@lushingtonbrady9757 yes, Galadriel destroyed of Dol Guldur with Nenya, the Ring of Adamant. I rather suspect Tolkien saw her as a fit young lady taking part in games rather than warfare (and yes, I know that games arose as practice for warfare), so she was 'Amazonian' in the manner of many female athletes rather than encased in steel and waving a sword.

Sir PTerry had Discworld's Dwarf females bearded and mentioned the delicate politics of trying to ascertain the sex of a possible marriage partner, given that armour, helmets and big axes were de rigeur. The LoTR's text states that female Dwarves were few and looked so like the males that it was difficult to tell them apart. Aragon jokes that: it's the beards - and he isn't contradicted! I'm okay with the concept of beardless Dwarf females, actually, but the actress in the trailer is patently a lady and dressed like a World of Warcraft female Dwarf (and WoW female Dwarfs do not have beards).

I've already got a bet on Sauron for that characterisation.

@lushingtonbrady9757 gotcha. But I did wonder if the total obliteration of Dol Guldur, every trace of it, was the ravages of time visited on it.

@jimjimmy680 oh, no disagreement there, but not in full plate.

@lushingtonbrady9757 Nenya's power was failing but not completely gone, not then. But Galadriel did have her own power and that might well have been sufficient.

@kauetadaieski3131 Galadriel cast down Dol Guldur not long after the One Ring was destroyed on March 25th. Celebrimbor hid the Elven rings from Sauron and, although he bound them to the One, he could netiher see nor control them. Their tragedy was that they would fade and the Elves with them.

Ralph Bakshi did his best with the media then available and I rather like the film; the BBC dramatised the story and did a damn good job (I finally learned the poems once they were set to music); Peter Jackson made a trilogy which, despite the wobblies, is an outstanding achievement. So, Amazon.... here’s the tree, the noose and the horse. In your own time.

@Ottuln ...was that TV series the uexpurgated version? I haven't watched tv for a couple of decades...

@xaga8794 it's a longstanding Christian condundrum, basically. Did God allow or intend Lucifer to rebel and fall. There's so many theological arguments around this and I only have a superficial understanding of them.
