@neeljavia2965 Merger with BSNL would not amount to saving. It will create a walking dead zombie. By saving, I meant reversal of these nonsensical AGR dues. However, the issue is that Airtel has paid many of its dues and is in a position to pay the rest. GoI is in no position to reimburse them. So the challenge would be finding a solution without being unfair to Airtel.

It's the classic case of killing the hen that lays golden eggs. Also, the simplest way to think about a spectrum is that it is a natural resource just like coal, petroleum, and ores. You buy mining rights to mine, similarly, you bid on spectrums to use it to deliver your services. Similarly, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G can be imagined as various lanes of a highway.
