I think Rishi Sunak as PM is a proud moment for Hindus and not India. His priority will be his country i.e. the UK. However, a practicing Hindu ascending to such great heights will lead many to reassert their roots.

@RK-im7js As far as the charge of "intolerance" goes, neither Muslims nor Christians have any say on the matter. Both are responsible for the "extinction" of several religions. Hinduism is the only old religion that has survived despite so many attempts to destroy it. As far as supporting the BJP is concerned, everyone is entitled to their political choices and BJP supporting Hindus DO NOT need any "Goodness" certificate from anyone. Keep crying. Nothing will change.

@anirudhhariharan9749 Firstly, he DOES NOT eat beef. Secondly, it DOES NOT matter. None of the sacred Hindu texts - the Geeta, the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, the Vedas, or the Upanishads explicitly forbid beef eating. Cows got their storied status on account of their economic importance. Anyways, the specifics DO NOT matter. For many Hindus, cows continue to be sacred. It is desirable to not eat Beef and very much possible to adhere to this rule in India but abroad it is very difficult to ensure a strict "no beef" policy. In Europe and the US, Beef, pork, and chicken would be served in the same restaurant. In such cases, only faith is enough to make you Hindu.

@poopfarts6969 I have already explained it in my previous reply. Anyways the laws were not BJP made. Congress enacted laws against cow slaughter.

@RK-im7js Totally agree. In fact, It might be well past its expiration date but it will continue to stay on the shelf until the arrival of new inventory. The LEFT is so down in the mud and so utterly DISCREDITED that Modi continues unabated. Hence, you have players like Kejriwal emerging out of nowhere because Congress has gone down to the dogs. Two things are necessary for a change - 1) The REALIZATION that a change is needed and 2) the emergence of an ALTERNATIVE that most can agree upon. The latter is Modi's strength.

@poopfarts6969 You are incorrect. It is a state subject. Most of the "Prevention of Cow slaughter acts" were passed in the 1950s. For e.g. UP in 1955 and Punjab in 1956. The Center i.e. the BJP tried passing a law under the "Prevention of animal cruelty act" but the Supreme Court suspended it. Nevertheless, 20 states have laws with punishment ranging from 6 months to 14 years. In 1982, even Indira Gandhi wrote a letter to state CMs asking them to act against cow slaughter.
