@rajsimhamv9045 Indian populace knows Realpolitik. Pragmatic consideration trump everything. Russia is one of the world's largest producer of minerals. In fact, for some minerals it is the only global supplier. Without Russian nitrates, boron or iron or titanium, the whole world will come to a standstill. We'll even go hungry because these are key ingredients of fertilizer making. Hence, even the US sanctions on Russia were engineered to target only Ruski oil (and benefit US oil companies in the Middle East). "Reduce dependence" is such an easy phrase to say, but economics doesn't work like triple talaq.

You have such a narrow worldview. I wonder if its the Madrasah education that is contributing detachment from the real world. What do you expect Russia abandon China for India? Even if an India-China war were to break out, Russia wouldn't send its troops to fight beside either the Chinese or Indians. It will only issue statements asking for peace and maybe run backdoor peace negotiations for the two countries. Back in 62, too, Russians literally threw us under the bus. Khrushchev told Nehru to compromise. This was despite the fact that Mao and Khrushchev personally disliked each other and the Sino-Soviet split was already underway. However, the Cuban Missile Crisis necessitated Chinese support for the USSR. The comrades openly declared that they would stay loyal to "brother" China against "friend" India (which was in reality not for brotherly love but to save their own skin after the mess they got themselves into in Cuba). America is actually the example to follow when it comes to these kind of matters. For them Capitalism comes first. The Russian sanctions hurt Europe but did not impact the US because they were designed to insulate and even benefit the US from the damage. The US always keeps business and emotions separate. They are also unafraid and courageous.

This is literally the case of missing "politics" for "geopolitics". It was least expected from a journo who lost his hair covering the 500 shades of grey of Indian politicians. It's an election year in the US and Biden is trying to rake nationalism to counter inflation and Trump's surge. The unemployment is below long term average and China hasn't done anything to provoke anyone recently. Democracy is fast turninf into a circus everwhere thanks to echo chambers.
