Comments by "Sankalp" (@sankalp6872) on "Why BJP is defending its MP u0026 WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh, accused of sexual harassment by wrestlers" video.
In the current era, objective political assessment is a RARITY. Maybe it is selling out or pure ideological commitment, but "political punditry" has become strictly monotone, and it is now either LEFT or RIGHT-centric. DK is amongst the last few flag bearers of OBJECTIVITY in an increasingly darkening profession.

Brij Bhushan's political clout is highly exaggerated (esp Lok Sabha). He isn't indispensable and wouldn't have gotten so much importance if it weren't for the Jat-Rajput "tadka" that got added into the mix. By all accounts, he seems to be a "bully". However, the "sexual harassment" allegations remain unclear and must be investigated. Political parties are SENSITIVE to perception. BJP is buying time to set its pieces. Preventing the Hoodas from consolidating power within the wrestling arena would be BJP's no. 1 PRIORITY.

To be fair, DK's Punjab assessment was based on the fact that NOBODY WOULD BE STUPID ENOUGH TO BURN DOWN THEIR OWN HOUSE. As it turned out, not only did the Gandhi siblings annihilate their own house, but they also burned the Akali stable and destroyed the BJP-Amarinder launchpad. A state with a helter-skelter opposition until a year ago before the polls switched lock, stock, and smoking barrels toward AAP. You have to credit INC for taking such daring risks and AAP for such dashing cash-ins. Poor Amarinder or even DK is no match for the STUPIDITY of the Gandhi siblings.

Siddharth Sriram Never make the assumption that voters are stupid. People evaluate political choices based on future expectations and not entirely on the present. Propaganda is an important tool in politics but it's available with every political party. BJP may be "excellent" but then the question is why is Congress so poor? Never make the mistake of thinking of things as BINARIES in politics. BJP vs Congress is not a "Good vs Evil" battle. Had it been such than the choice OF CHOOSING ONE AMONG THE TWO would have been a logical one. Alas, it's NOT. Hence, it becomes a matter of who can take how many? Herein, lies the problem of the INC. It is not a new party. It has been in power for many years. It has achievements and disasters to its credit. There is no crime it did not commit. Hence, "holier than thou" does not suit the party, but HYPOCRISY is not new in politics. INC's problem its LEADERSHIP. Rahul Gandhi is just a failed dynast. He has NO charisma or a critical mass supporting him. He lost Amethi to Smriti Irani. It just tells you how low down the order he stands against Modi. CHANGE is the ONLY thing that could save the INC. Karnataka has not elected the same part for a second term in the past many years. So odds favor the INC but I hope they lose. A victory will fuel a false sense of security among the party and the Gandhi siblings will takeover everything. A major shakeup is required. Your mother may never change her beliefs about Modi. That's how fans are and it's okay. The question is for the new voter? The uninspiring Rahul may not be his option against Modi but a Tharoor vs Modi may at least force him evaluate.

Siddharth Sriram You are entitled to your opinion. If Hindutva and money were all it took, Kejriwal would never have emerged. I prefer revolving terms of left govt and right govt so one side's dominance is kept in check. Unfortunately, the LEFT is hopeless in this country, and Rahul is INEPT as a leader.
