Hey, Praveen Swami, agree that "encounters" don't solve the root of the problem, but is the opposite TRUE? Are you arguing that running these criminals through the tedious legal process will solve the "root" of the problem? Did the heinous crime associated with Nirbhaya stop after the 3 death penalties? Did terrorism stop after Kasab? And to those saying, "What if it's you or your family?" BE REALISTIC; how many of us are "Bahubalis"? PEST CONTROL DOES NOT SOLVE THE COCKROACH PROBLEM FOREVER, but it REDUCES it to a tolerable level.

@mg.f.9023 Well, you are entitled to your opinions. I am happy that Atiq is gone and wish the same fate for his ilk. Politicians are crooks everywhere on Earth and definitely even on Alien planets. In my view, we have society to blame for the systemic failure that accounts for justice from the prism of religion, caste, creed, or other identities. Politicians cashing in on the divide is no surprise. The politics over Atiq's death suits both the BJP and TMC-INC-SP-Owaisi (Secular) parties. Politicians react as per the whims of their base. We play "outrage football" among ourselves. Everything is INTERCONNECTED. Denial of Mughal atrocities or normalizing them as "It was a different time back then" would be sufficient to melt away any outrage over the release of Bilkis Bano criminals. Where was the secular outrage for the "Ajmer case" involving Hindu victims and influential Muslim culprits who are celebrated as saints? Both are just two examples (among countless) that stand testimony to a terribly broken SYSTEM. Also, let's not forget the famous "Every sinner has a sinner" verdict.
