Fact 1: Donetsk and Luhansk have historically been Ukrainian territories. At least, during the Soviet era. Further history is complex. Fact 2: During the Soviet era, many ethnic Ukrainians from these regions died and the region was repopulated with ethnic Russians. Fact 3: Possession is 9/10 of the law. I do not mean to be INSENSITIVE but Ukrainians need to be realistic here. Their idiot leaders should stop fooling citizens. The western "help" is a myth. They are waiting for an official "invasion" which actually began in 2014. Solving this issue bilaterally with Russia without western interference is the best way out. Russia's security concerns are genuine. They must be addressed.

It's not that simple. Russia's security concerns are valid. Both Russia and China are tightly controlled states. Putin is right to fear American attempts of destabilizing his country via Ukraine. The US has done this multiple times.

@RoshanDixit You are woefully ill-informed. Developed countries don't want war? Iraq, Afghanistan say Hello. Syrians, Libyans, and even Egyptians would disagree. However, you are right it's not about ethnicity, and yes Russian economy does not count for much but it is a military powerhouse and determines global commodity, and energy prices. Brent has breached $100, that's the cost of sanctions which is akin to punishing American and other global citizens for the crisis. Right vs Wrong is a debate for historians and future generations that would assess this situation. At the moment it is "To the victor belongs the spoils"
