If the BJP can prop up a credible leadership like the way they did with Himanta or Yogi, they can nullify almost any social coalition advantage. "Vikas Nahi, Samman chahiye" has outlived its usefulness. "Samman, Sushasan to mil Gaya, ab Vikaas chahiye" is the current cry. Nitish is past his prime. Despite the alliance, I highly doubt if RJD would allow him another term. That makes Bihar a battleground for RJD vs BJP. Anyways, the Nitish-Tejasvi alliance will have to deliver to stay relevant. ADVANTAGE Bihar (hopefully).

The Modi wave has stood tall against all caste/religion-based formations. The BJP+ got 35% vote of the votes in 2014 and with Nitish, it scored 54% in 2019. Much higher than any of the state election tallies. It may not be 39/42 but it will get a decent number of seats.

@vijaydinanathchavan7644 They couldn't have refused Nitish's 2017 offer for two reasons 1) 2019 Lok sabha polls. Bihar has 42 seats which they would have lost 2) Nitish was still relevant back then. Bihar is the last remaining bastion of "Mandal politics" with sharp divisions. BJP's core voter nucleus is 25%, RJD has 31% and JDU has 16%. Thus, the 30% floating vote becomes crucial. It sided with the JDU-BJP in 2005 and 2010. In 2015, Lalu made it one-way traffic by exploiting Mohan Bhagwat's ill-timed reservation statement to puncture the BJP-LJP alliance. It's a very caste-sensitive state. In fact, the tagline of the 80s, 90s, and even early 2000s was "Vikas nahi, Samman Chahiye". Post-Covid, the economic situation of Bihar has deteriorated. It was a cheap exporter of labor. Now, these laborers are back home without a job and they are angry with Nitish. If it weren't for the BJP and Modi's popularity, Nitish would have lost in 2020. Nitish 16% vote block is up for grabs but BJP does not have strong local leadership in Bihar to stake claim to it.

@vijaydinanathchavan7644 Let's see. Personally, I think caste matters only at the seat sharing level but not at the leadership level Leaders can emerge from any caste. Yogi emerged as a leader on account of his mass appeal, Fadnavis is the modern Maratha Machiavelli, and Himanta is both, a strategist and a mass leader. Their caste played no role in their rise. In fact, Tejasvi was gaining pan Bihar appeal owing to Nitish's inability to fulfilling Bihar's economic aspirations. The breakup allows BJP to groom its own leadership. The choice could be any but it should not be Delhi run or Delhi imposed. That will not be appreciated in Bihar.
