  1. UP will likely go the Assam way. The religious divide is stark there. Opposition parties simply cannot give up their "appeasement" and pandering of the special group.

  2.  @PK-tt5kk  Hindutva is a default setting. Identity is the pillar of human civilization. If Humans are constructed as concentric circles of identities, then Hindutva would be among the inner circle. Until recently it was superseded by caste, region, language, and other forms but even then it had a central role in voting. In fact, Congress was the original Hindu party of India. The whole Ram Temple mess was set into motion by Rajiv Gandhi to "prove" his Hindu credentials after Shah Bano. The future of politics is hard to predict but if the past is viewed as a template, then India has always been a one-dominant party country. Hence, we have so many wrong precedents set by Congress that it is impossible for them to take the moral high ground on any of BJP's mistakes. BJP will eventually run out of fuel and lose (at least temporarily) but would it be displaced from power by COngress?
