  1. It's actually an enigma. The collapse USSR itself was fuzzy. Most experts blame PERESTROIKA and GLASNOST but Gorbachev's tenure was merely 6 years. When you say WEST, it's the US. There is a strong trust deficit between the two countries and given the fact that Russia was once a superpower there is also the psychological aspect of accepting a role under your bete noire. As to China, you must check out the Pew research. It's only in 2020, that China's image tanked sharply otherwise it was always Russia that garnered the most suspicion. I personally feel, the Russia-Ukraine war is stupid and totally unnecessary. Russia should have acted more patiently given that at least part of its demand was rational but clearly, the BIG RUSSIAN EGO came into play or Was it China that did something? Who knows? However, Russia going down the path of North Korea or even a Putin-less Russia is DREADFUL and CATASTROPHIC to global order.

  2. I am a student and I do not always agree with Mr. Gupta's opinions but I greatly admire the DEPTH he covers in mere 20 minutes of CutTheClutter. The preparation itself is a SEMESTER's worth of work crammed in less than 24 hours. I wonder what he does between two CTCs. He generally picks up the most obscure yet the most relevant topic of the day. CTC is aired between 9 to 12 PM. So when does he start? With all due respect, he ain't exactly SPRING CHICKEN. Of course, there is the EXPERIENCE FACTOR but if that was all it, JOE BIDEN would have not become such a LAUGHING STOCK.
