@kkr_Abhishek First of all your premise is wrong. Your arguments are - "Trust me bro, I know everything". If you can't cite evidence you are intellectually bankrupt. "Foundations nahi tha" it seems. South Korea also got a bad hand (in many ways much worse than India). Yet, their leaders were smart enough to ensure long term prosperity. They adopted the model of "guided capitalism" and built Samsung, LG, Hyundai and other giants. We couldn't create anything.
Also, let's not just restrict to the Iits and AIIMS. The numerous engineering, medical and management institutes set up during esp in South India created the much needed human capital. However, Govt policies of the time discouraged entrepreneurship. Soaring tax rates discouraged foreign investments. The problems only got compounded during the Indira era. At least, Nehru delivered 4% growth. Indira Gandhi crashed it to 2%. The tax rates were upwards of 90%. There was no incentive to work more as it would not have led to higher earnings.
Nehruvian Socialism was all about denial. The kind of denial you are exhibiting now. It was a disaster, Hence Congress itself abandoned it and opted for mandated reforms in 1992. The rest is history.
PS: Stop ridiculing Pakistan's success (the very little they ever had). They too started with meagre resources. However, the army was inherently self-serving. Hence, it went down the path of capitalism and prospered before Bhutto ruined it. Also, we ourselves were at the mercy of foreign aid and among the US sponsored PL50 program. We would have gone hungry with the American corns.

@kkr_Abhishek @AbhishekKumar-fe7yy This is a Classic case of an "I know everything" attitude. Misleading? How can a fact be misleading? Going from 6th to 15th clearly tells you that you have underperformed. India was not the only one stepping out of colonialism. Half of the world was breaking from the shackles of colonialism. Each is more destitute and illiterate than the other. Look at the facts, South Korea was much more abysmal than us, yet it adopted rapid industrialization under Park Chung Hee and became a top industrial nation. IITs (alongside the several universities and engineering colleges set up during the era) created the necessary human capital, but Nehruvian socialism had already killed entrepreneurship. Hence, the talent fled abroad instead of contributing to India's growth.
Also, Pak's boom was not just driven by military aid. Unlike Nehru, Ayub Khan got the economics right. Agriculture grew by 5.5%, East Pakistan was leading in exports, and private ownership and entrepreneurship were actively encouraged. In fact, Pak was the first to usher in the Green Revolution. They were the first in South Asia to adopt Norman Borlaug's high-yielding wheat crops. We followed suit in the mid-60s.
PS: India itself was a PL480 aid recipient. We were taking food aid from the Americans.
PPS: It's a free country. You are free to worship Nehru. Your worship will not stop me from calling out his destructive policies. Throughout my correspondence, I have not made personal remarks against Nehru. His policy blunders are well-established and undeniable.
