  3.  @u18walr1n8  Thank you for pointing out the NYT report. It is also true that they were unpaid and underfunded and the US abandoned them. But is that a valid excuse in the face of a battle? Did the Indian army run away after they lost 20 of their soldiers to Chinese forces last year? This was amidst so much propaganda. Remember the videos of Chinese super soldiers fighting in practicing in ice-cold temperatures? Me saying anything won't dent an iota of respect toward the martyrdom of soldiers who stayed behind and fought. However, the facts are clear. The pictures were clear. Soldiers abandoning posts, taillights of US-gifted vehicles rushing towards Uzbekistan, surrender, handing over of weapons, taking of cash, and running away are NOT THE CONDUCT OF A PROFESSIONAL ARMY. They were not just poorly trained but lacked the mental will to fight. That is why I said women would have shown more resistance because they had more at stake to lose. Anyways, feel free to forge your own opinion. I respect your sentiment. The Taliban are savages and perhaps running away was the more wise choice. However, it was NOT the US ABANDONMENT or the SILENCE OF INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY or the SURRENDER OF ARMED FORCES that allowed the return of the Taliban. The war was lost in the 20 years during which the Afghan administration did nothing to DETOX or DEISLAMIFY the country. There is a meme on Twitter comparing some rules under the Taliban and rules under the former Afghan Govt. THEY ARE EXACTLY THE SAME.
