Babulal Marandi was actually the first CM of Jharkhand. Why give such a twisted description of him? It's hard to believe, but Jharkhand is actually India's richest mineral resource state. In no way should Jharkhand have been at the bottom of India's income pyramid. Babulal Marandi was the only CM of note in the state who left behind a good legacy despite a tenure of just 2.5 years.

Karnataka was neither a humiliation nor a setback. That state has never re-elected a Govt for quite some time now. The way they fought in Karnataka was certainly a concern. Even Shivraj, despite tough odds, is putting up a fight, Bommai outsourced his job to Modi. Jharkhand is easy for the BJP. KCR is unlikely to lose Telangana, but BJP will fetch some Lok Sabha seats. The best BJP can hope is for an alliance in AP. BJP is unable to break the caste code in the AP.

Punjab is the most difficult to predict state. AAP sits on a rebel Congress and SAD-BJP vote bank. It played its cards smart by reaching out to those sections that were left out of the Punjab wealth story. Tripolarity won't last for long. Either SAD-BJP or INC will have to perish to make way for an AAP vs someone DUALITY. Going by Delhi example, INC should worry.

@juPi05tEr I disagree. The defeat was EXPECTED, so it does not meet the definition of a setback. The margin is immaterial. In fact, the fact that they retained seats beyond coastal Karnataka is a surprise. BJP MLAs were barely putting up a fight. Only Modi took on the Congress. They lost, so they deserve all the criticism that is being thrown at them, so I respect your assessment.

@d16024 I think they have given up on Gujarat. It's like a ship without a captain. The only name of note is Jignesh Mewani, but they are afraid of giving him any major role. Karnataka victory is a band-aid that has become a convenient excuse to avoid heart surgery for the INC. They are talking about uniting opposition but the bitter truth is that Congress brings NOTHING to the table. In the 273 direct BJP vs INC fight, INC continues to be far behind the BJP. in terms of preparations.
