  1. I doubt this whole assessment. It is based on hearsay and Shankar's own views on casteism. He clearly does NOT understand the Maharashtra caste system. If BJP wanted to throw a carrot to the "Maratha" caste they would have chosen their own Maratha CM from the Maratha belt, not an urban Shinde. The sugar lobby and cooperatives control the vote in rural Maharashtra. These are mostly controlled by Marathas and BJP has installed many of its people in the setup. This was why Pawar was upset with Fadnavis. He tried to make it "Peshwa vs Maratha" but it didn't click. BJP made Shinde the CM to bring down MVA (Only idiots would believe it was last minute and waste time on Fadnavis's expression). BJP wants to end the Thackerays and win BMC. Fadnavis will return as CM in 2024.
