  1. The negativity around the economy is short-sighted and counterproductive. Nothing absolves the Govt of its responsibilities, not even God. The fact is politics and pseudo-science around the virus proved catastrophic. The new vaccine deadline set by WHO is mid-September next year by which probably everyone on the planet might get infected. Like him or dislike him Narendra Modi is the PM till 2024 (possibly even beyond). First, priority should be people who have lost their jobs (it would be difficult for them to compete young and fresh out of uni job seekers). Next, reduce taxes, sell all PSU if necessary. Lower taxation is a time tested effective tool against any recession. It took 7 years for the US to fully recover from GFC, With less deep pockets India may need decades if PM Modi does not fix the mess.

  2. Nirmala Sitharaman has the toughest job on the planet. She is not responsible for the COVID mess but she should read the room when she makes her statements. A greater engagement would not hurt. In fact, there are many within the BJP who are well versed with real economics - Swami, Piyush Goel, Zafar Islam, Suresh Prabhu, Arun Shourie, Jayant Sinha and many more. At least, Swami, Goyal, and Prabhu should be active members consulting the FM.
