An inefficient system is a breeding ground for cockroaches. Unfortunately, in India Cockroaches hold the most power. Questions must be asked if only Punjab and Haryana could have been left out of the reforms.

@jattmoosewala83 Record production is always accompanied with fall in prices. That's basic supply and demand law but these people have neither attended an eco finance class nor have ever set foot in. A college. It's disgusting but it is also true that the rest of India remained silent and allowed Punjabi farmers to sink it for all of us. Congratulations - Gareebi Mubarak

With these reforms, instead of being at the "mercy" of "corporates", farmers themselves could have become "corporates". Alas, the choice was another 75 years of SUICIDES, FORCED LAND GRABS, POLITICALLY RUN MILLS & SOCIETIES, and LOAN WAIVERS. Congratulations to all.

Let's start a mass campaign to send your article on the matter to PM Modi. BJP made mistakes and the opposition fell sacrificed the interest of the nation for short-term gains. Even select media played its role in derailing a resolution. The video from Vox on the matter is full of holes and even respected newspapers like the Indian express circulated Op-eds on MSP which has "unearthly" figures. Overall, don't know electorally who won who lost but India most certainly lost.

The making of these laws began in the early 2000s. I think 21 years is too much of a time for "consultation". Let's be honest, even "Liberalization" was a midnight siege and even other famed democracies like the UK unveiled Thatcherism amidst protest. Thankfully, they didn't have social media. In fact, YouTube is full of videos that field fear psychosis regarding the reforms. Now, we stand at cross roads of another opportunity lost.
