  1. Who cares man? People only hear the word "Free". They will line up for votes. Also, I want him to win Punjab just to see how he manages to pull this off. Although I know his plan. He will increase the Mandi tax and then blame Modi and FCI for not buying Punjab's wheat and rice.

  2. Nothing wrong with opening new alcohol stores. But who will buy alcohol if there is NO INCOME? I don't have a problem with Free electricity but he should clarify how will he compensate for it? Is he going to hike commercial electricity? Road tax? Petrol prices? or is it going to be another confrontation with the Center this time over Mandi taxes?

  3. NOTHING IN LIFE IS AVAILABLE FOR FREE. He is not giving anything for "free". Free would imply that there are NO COSTS. He is subsidizing electricity by 100%. The Thermal power plant still has to pay its employees. So ask the question who will bear those costs? The state's main sources of revenue are road tax, GST, VAT, excise, road tax, and property taxes. in Punjab's case, there is also Mandi tax. He cannot alter GST and VAT has petrol under it. HE SHOULD CLARIFY. PEOPLE DESERVE TO KNOW IF VEHICLES, PROPERTY OR LIQUOR IS GOING TO BECOME EXPENSIVE or we heading for another showdown with Modi over Mandi taxes or is he going to increase commercial electricity rates thus making everything from a photocopy to a meal more expensive.
