@aditya5371 Exactly. He made an error when he joined the Congress. His movement became political and the Patel vote became confused and split. Today, he is a liability even in the Congress. The Patidar backing is minimal plus his image as only Patidar has disillusioned the traditional pro Congress castes.

Even NOTA is better than Congress. It's a directionless party with zero integrity or intelligence.

They won't win but I hope they finish second. Time for healthy Opposition to rise up in this country. Time for Congress to perish. Time for a healthy competition to emerge.

@aditya5371 I am aware. Just wishful thinking on my part. I simply can't stand Congress any more. Congress needs to perish for the betterment of India. I can take issue with Modi's covid mismanagement (along with state CMs including Kejriwal) but the unenecessary tirade against Central Vista or India's defense forces or other toxicity that is being unleashed by Rahul Gandhi 24x7.

Parth Patel He got the backing of the community initially but nobody wished to see the movement turn political. After all the community's fortune was always linked with the BJP as they had no place among the Congress's KHAP. As of today Hardik has lost most of his support. In Gujarat or for that matter rest of India while BJP might not be the perfect alternative, Congress is certainly not the alternative for most of us Indians.

@tomriddle4110 "Strong" and "Roots" are not words that I would associate for Congress anymore. Their traditional supporters are dead like literally dead i.e the pre-independence and early independence era born. At the moment the Congress gets support from the Anybody_but_BJP section and they would vote Congress only as a last resort. In presence of strong regional leaders well you know what these people do. Also, this is not Parliament election where Modi haters play any role. Apart from that it is the goodwill of local leaders that fetches votes for Congress. Till to this day I am yet to come across a Rahul Gandhi fan. I know there are chamchas but even among them Rahul is not really taken seriously. They will tell you about his cabinet in terms of Raghuram Rajan and Tharoor but their uneasiness is apparent while discussing Rahul. Bhakts on the other hand will defend Modi no matter what.

@tomriddle4110 Anything is possible in Politics. Vijay Rupani is a weak CM. To be fair, Modi never prepared a succession plan for Gujarat when he left for Delhi. BJP may sneak in Gujarat and UP this time. In Gujarat, on the back of RSS's goodwill and work during the CoVid mayhem. Congress was MIA. In UP, infra work has been done and Modi still retains his popularity. However, 2024 will hinge upon employment.

@tomriddle4110 UP I have a feeling that they will win. I know CoVid shook them for a while but Yogi handled it fine despite the initial missteps (I am aware of the data fudging but even after accounting for those number UP's tally is still better). For UP, it is more about the solid growth and pushes on infra that will sway votes for the BJP. Also, there is a rally around the flag factor. The continues bad portrayal by Media and Opposition has created a wave of sympathy and woken up the UP "asmita" akin to Gujarati pride. We also see this in Maharashtra where Uddhav has garnered some sympathy for similar reasons. In Gujarat, Rupani will win and is unlikely to be replaced after that. When it comes to electoral politics, BJP's resilience is formidable. They don't give up in tough situations unlike say the Congress. Modi did commit governance Harakiri on his vaccine politics and other CoVid issues but the political fallout was kept under control.
