To be fair, India's geopolitical thinking, esp around its neighborhood, has been profoundly MYOPIC and FLAWED. Why should we even have a "favorite" party in another country's democracy? We blundered in Nepal by not supporting its democratic struggle. Instead of doing a Norway, we allowed ourselves to get deeply drawn into Sri Lanka's internal matters. Despite intelligence warnings, we allowed a coup in Bangladesh. these countries despise our BIG BROTHER attitude, and we must engage them as ECONOMIC PARTNERS, not younger siblings.

3:16 Indian examples of "Pehle aap, Pehle aap" are Kumaraswamy-Yediyurappa and latest was TS Singh Deo-Bhupesh Baghel (Both in the same party).

@surjakarki4807 I have already admitted flaws in our foreign policy, but you are making baseless and incorrect assertions. Both Eelam and East Pakistan separatism are well documented. You just have to read the history. India played no role in fueling them. Bengalis were subjected to great humiliation by Punjabis for years. Yahya dismissing Mujeeb's claim to PMship was the tipping point. The last thing India could have wanted was a sovereign Tamil Eelam. It was not just a threat to Sri Lanka but also to India. The systemic isolation of Tamilians cultivated the LTTE. Sirimavo Bandaranaike's policies toward Tamils were no different from Hitler's toward Jews. In fact, India repeatedly warned the Lankan Govt. Perhaps, India's fatal flaw was not acting tough on the Lankans. One reason was the untimely death of Indira Gandhi. She had sternly warned Jaywardene and even threatened military intervention. Rajiv Gandhi had greatly weakened by late 80s. His IPKF made Sri Lanka India's Vietnam. All in all, our foreign policy needs to be decisive when it comes to our neighbours. We have been very fickle and sometimes too slow to react. As to Nepal, we should not have any stake in the country's parliamentry democracy. However, let me CRYSTAL CLEAR, We have no stake in Nepal's integrity either. It is for Nepalese to hold their nation together. It is for the Nepali Govt to keep Madhesis and Pahadis united. Stop pinning the blame on India and curse us. We are not fuelling any separatism in the country. Last year, KP Oli selfishly used India as an excuse to prolong his govt. He weaponized foreign policy and challenged India's sovreingty. India could have reacted sharply yet we showed patience and maturity.

@surjakarki4807 Firstly, Indian Mainstream media does not cover foreign policy or geopolitics. Secondly, the information on Bangladesh war and Lankan civil war are easily available and compiled by well respect authors and institutions. Even many former Pakistani generals have confirmed the brutality in Bangladesh. So get your facts right. Next, time come prepared with facts.
