  1. Sharad Pawar never said "No" to the alliance. He was only telling them to "wait". Now the question is whether he said "okay", or is this a revolt? BJP has once again blundered in Maha and restricted its own growth, esp in the Western Maha and Marathwada belt with this alliance.

  2.  @sabkabaap1758  It's fairly straightforward. NCP is the strongest in Western Maha and Marathwada. Half of NCP's 54 seats came from western Maha, and BJP was running second to NCP in most of these seats. Now, an alliance will curtail BJP's growth, and BJP leaders who spent years trying to dislodge NCP will be left wondering. I agree with all your points. Perhaps, BJP has secured 2024 for itself, and it might even retain the state later. Also, Praful Patel taking the oath suggests that Sharad Pawar might actually be on board with this (irrespective of what he has been saying in the media). The question is if all this is worth the cost? Fadnavis is a decent man who had a fruitful tenure as CM. He is now deputy CM. The NCP lot imported are notoriously corrupt and even allegedly involved in land grabbing and other crimes. Lastly, IMPORT TACTICS will not win people's hearts, nor it guarantee even 50% voting. Mature democracies are at least a 40-40 split across ideological spectrums. The anti-NCP or anti-BJP voters will find some other way to align. Maybe not immediately but we have elections every 5 years.
