  1. US and China are our largest trading partners, with the US being our largest surplus and China accounting for our largest deficit. I find this proposition of India using the US as a counter to China deeply APPALlING. Nehru and Shiv Shankar Menon tried this and had a major hand Sino-Soviet split, but it backfired on us in the form of the 1962 China War. China's rise is INEVITABLE. Our PRIORITY should be to minimize our gap with China to prevent it from mauling us at the peak of its HEGEMONY. Multilarism does NOT hurt, irrespective of the leadership, as long as our interests are served.
