  1. The Chinese NEVER negotiate. Historically, China has always operated like a hive mind. The Han Chinese are deceptive and cunning and follow Sun Tzu's "Art of War" for diplomacy. Mongols, the Japanese, and the British repeatedly humiliated the great Han dynasties of the Songs and Mings. Before the Opium wars, China repeatedly challenged the British with bold claims. However, when Charles Elliot called this bluff, China was swiftly defeated and ceded Hong Kong. No doubt China is a powerful adversary but there never any scope for diplomacy with China. It is always a staring contest and the one who blinks first loses. Modi and Trump should recognize this.
