Personally, I felt Modi got a walkover. Ironically, nobody is more committed to INC's survival than Modi. Humoring Rahul Gandhi helps him as many don't see Rahul winning against Modi. "Anybody but Modi" is mad science. Indians will NEVER vote "uncertainty". WHATABOUTERY is a sword that cuts both ways. It holds no place in a sensible debate and never leads to a resolution. Modi played his cards well.

Modi's supporters will cheer his address, while his detractors will flog it. The real question is the tangible impact of this latest BJP-Opposition kerfuffle. Modi enjoys a healthy 10 crore lead over his nearest rival, the INC. There is no indication that the latest antics of the opposition have made a dent in the humongous difference. The opposition needs to reinvent itself away from the shadow of Modi. Attacking Modi is TRIED, TESTED, and FAILED strategy. It must evolve into an alternative vision of governance.

@Bengalifirst Irony is your understanding of liberalism and Indian politics. The additional vote that Modi personally gets are the poor, who he has won over through his welfare schemes. The middle class was always in BJP's pocket. Liberal-Conservatives are different in India's context. Hindu progressive liberals find the BJP's politics more inclusive than the caste-centric regional parties. The toxic nexus between Left and Muslim Islamists also cause the young educated to move toward the BJP.

@HumanBeingsRThinkingBeings Who should be demanding the resignations? Sikh genocide, Kashmiri Hindu genocide enablers? Did Gehlot resign? Govts have mandates of 5 years. People judge parties and candidates on voting day.

@pratiush1000 The alternatives are Sikh/Kashmiri Hindu genocide enablers, Hamrmandir Sahib destroyers, Jungle Raj creators, election violence innovators, and emergency imposers. Speak about your moral compass. Mine is working fine.

@pratiush1000 People who don't learn from the past become the past. It's interesting how you are okay with these serious wrongs never getting justice. I am voting for my nation's future. Voting for Congress is like walking back in the past.

@Bengalifirst What you call 'intolerant" is "anti-appeasement" to BJP supporters. Perception matters. In fact, Liberal/Conservative is a scale. You can check all modern research on it. Everybody would disqualify if one looks for a perfect Liberal/Conservative. In any case, Liberalism was about defending one's right to free speech, even in disagreement. Left is NOT LIBERAL.

He was addressing a serious issue. He had to keep things emotional.

@pratiush1000 Shifting goalpost now? You have no counter to the fact that INC's hands are bloody. Manmohan Singh is not running for 2024. He has fruitful UPA 1, which had good deliverance. However, everything went downhill in UPA 2. Leveraging one's dominant position to encourage local manufacturing is perfectly legit. Even the US, under Biden, is using the strategy. Indian manufacturing needs a massive overhaul. We need industrial corridors and dedicated commerce zones. Modi Govt could certainly do better, but I don't see Congress rising to the occasion. Raj/Chattisgarh/Jharkhand are abysmal. Meanwhile, UP under Yogi has been doing well. Courts and even Congress slammed the TMC for WB election violence, and now they are together. You are selective in your assessment of India's future, but somehow my vision is clouded. VIRTUE SIGNALLING DOES NOT WORK HERE. My vision of the future is perfectly fine. In any case, THEY ARE MINE TO CHOOSE.

@subodhdk It was almost 3 decades ago. It qualifies as ancient for today's rocket-speed-changing world.

@pratiush1000 Congress lost power in 2014 because it lost the confidence of the people. Congress won the thumping majority many times despite bigger scandals. Modi retains the trust of the masses. He is a reight-socialist. He delivered value to the poorest, who got ignored before 2014. His flagship, "Nal se jal yojna" is enough to sail him through 2024. You might have your reasons for voting for the Congress. The rest have their reasons for retaining Modi. Have you ever seen an election where voters move 100% from one party to another? It never happens. Virtue signaling won't help. Be honest and assess Rahul Gandhi against Modi. Why should we accept him as the PM when he has never even been a minister? What are his achievements? Not wanting Modi cannot be the reason. Why couldn't Raj/WB emerge as model states? Politics is relative. It is choosing one party over the other. Masses should see a value proposition to inspire the switch.
