  1. It's a Mexican standoff with everybody waiting to put a dagger into the other's back. Nobody sees Iran as the leader of the Muslim world, especially the Sunni world, despite their Military superiority. They are no competition to the Saudis. The US has tried to destabilize Iran in the past but has failed miserably. The Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan are plain Islamic states. They were formed for the ISLAMIC CAUSE (It's a different matter altogether that their "Islamic cause" is Islamic superiority). They view themselves as "guardians of Islam".
