I think the more relevant question is: Why BJP gravitated toward Shinde? This is not just an ordinary power grab. This is a MUTINY. I will not be totally dismissive of the Uddhav administration. It wasn't very popular but it wasn't unpopular either. Even Fadnavis was hailed as an administrator but never popular on the level of Modi or Yogi or Himanta. This was a BJP-Shinde collaboration to end the political careers of the Thackerays. Well planned and very well executed.
