@Here.s_2_Haddie China was in 1962 when neither the Soviets nor the Americans backed us. Soviets humiliated us by calling the Chinese their "brothers". After that, we did go to the US to upgrade our military but the US refused and we had to march toward the Soviets. We won 1965 on the back of some critical errors on the part of Pakistanis but it was clear that we faced a two-front situation and needed allies. Our tilt was toward the Soviets and only post-Kargil we marched into the American camp largely because there was a new Govt free from old loyalty toward the Russians, The point I am trying to make here is that our foreign policy was not "exactly" driven by choice but by "compulsions" necessitated by circumstances of the day. The Russia-Ukraine situation does not impact us. It makes no sense for us to upset the Russians. As to the US, what choice do they have? India is the only possible ally for them in Asia. Pakistan is deep in China's debt and others like Japan do not count militarily.

@DeepMukherjee Perhaps. But he is spreading misinformation about my country. Ukraine is the latest example of how America treats it's friends and this "bot" or whatever wants Modi to sit in Biden's lap

@masoomkumar6517 Nehru made countless mistakes during his time. However, it was a different era. We need to acknowledge his mistakes and learn from them. A little background is needed, NAM was formed in 1961, China attacked us in 1962 and JFK was the President from 1961 to 1963. America's help came with conditions. Even today, US's help comes with a lot of conditions.
