@saikrishnabandi8736 I agree that the Taliban is not a monolith. In fact, there is no central face. In the past, it was Mullah Omar but the current Taliban is very fragmented and possibly froth with groupism. Hence, we hear the talks of an Iran-like system with Ayatollah (Supreme Leader) and the pretense of a Democracy. They don't give jack shit about women's rights or engagement with the international community. For now, they are only putting a show for the WaPos, CNNs, NYTs, BBCs to offer a face-saver for the liberal favorite Biden. Let's not be delusional here. Had the exact same thing unfolded during the Trump presidency, the WaPos and NYTs would have themselves aided the resistance and asked the troops to defy the Commander-in-chief. There is a quid pro quo between the Americans and Taliban where they have agreed not to interfere with each other. Without a doubt, Pak has influence over the Taliban but it may be very curtailed. Anyways, the Taliban wants to rule this time. Unlike Omar who refused to hand over Osama, this new Taliban would have done it in a heartbeat. it does NOT MAKE THEM GOOD GUYS. They are just power-hungry. Let us wait and watch. I don't want India to interfere because if it backfires then it will unnecessarily put the target on our back.
