  1. The Russian defense industry has years of R&D and Learning curve behind it. We are not going to produce Fighter Jets just by doing a "jap" of Make-in-India. Also, there is the tough choice of spending on R&D and buying equipment worth that money. Do we have the spare budget needed for Make-in-India? If not, should some "development" initiative compromise domestic defense? Most important, why? After all, Russia has been a reliable supplier. Of course, if Private players are taking it up, GO FOR IT.
