  1. Why this meltdown? Nobody is DECLARING in victory. Politics DOES NOT COUNT. Indians if anything are the last ones to declare any victory. We are typically risk-averse people. We started with no industry and no food. During the 60s, we chose food over becoming the "world's factory". BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR. The rapid overhaul that you suggest would involve moving around a lot of furniture. South Korea had Park Chung Hee, Turkey had Ataturk, China had Deng Xiaoping and even Spain had Francisco Franco. All these were effective yet brutal dictators. Germany and Japan had industrial skills (and still do). Israel has had its back to the wall since day 1. Yes, we are BEHIND and we know it. BUT SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE. Unless we develop skills we won't win.
