@SpaceMarine500 They pretty much do take a leading role. Poland has probably improved the most from all the eastern bloc, ex-udssr countries and is doing fairly well. unfortunately there's a strong correlation between speed of development and falling birthrates. it's well documented, you see it prominently in china, south korea and japan, but even italy, spain and portugal share that fate. demographers can't say precisely why but the correlation is there. idk why people aren't more informed on this matter, it seems fertility is a rather pressing challenge around the globe.

you're right but Poland in particular did improve a lot. i'm quite a fan of the "intermarium" or "3 seas initiative" and I hope that poland keeps pursuing that idea, maybe even extending it further into the balkans, another region that seems mostly forgotten and isolated. i might also add that the fall of the soviet bloc isn't all that far in the past, so you've only had some 35 or so years to start integrating your economy into the wider world, which isn't all that much really. you'll get there.
