Putting more ram into computers only enables developers to be less efficient

@AlucardNoir on the contrary its why I find programmers going for the least efficient product frustrating. 1080p 60 fps on my work laptop basically is the most efficient set up, being efficient is a good thing.

@lost4468yt in my experience, consumer software tends to be very optimized. And enterprise/business software is usually pretty bad. Worst examples being pretty much any ticketing system, any system in a field where there's really only 1 or 2 major players like access control. A lot of medical software is exceptionally bad.

@johnnydoe3603 because broadly speaking it's true. especially when it comes to enterprise software. I've literally had a dev tell me that in order to fix an issue with a memory leak we just needed to upgrade our customers server to have a few hundred gb more ram so that by the time they run out of ram they're done for the day anyways. The most efficient software out there tends to actually be video games (except call of duty) where they have to optimize in order to reach the widest audience.

@AlucardNoir 1080 60 fps generally hits a sweet spot of "good enough" for most. my laptop is 1080, looks fine, sure would 4k be better looking? yeah, but is it worth the extra costs? not at all for me.
